The 125B really is the perfect guitar pedal enclosure, isn't it?!?!!

Absolutely it is.

Looks great, man!

Thanks, guys.  I guess it's just a little sloppier than I was hoping for.

Anyway, I appreciate the compliments.  Excited to get this one going.

I've had this done for a while, but haven't boxed it because I was struggling with getting the etch/painting right.  I finally gave up and said "eff it, this is close enough" and put it together.

Great sounding effect that deserves the praise it gets.  Still haven't gotten it down to practice to really put it through it's paces, but that's coming up on Wednesday.  :)

Awesome! Love that box color.

I had one of these and got it built up 90% of the way (I was waiting on pots and transistor sockets, and the board just disappeared.  It was in my closet under the stairs with the rest of my boards in various state of completion and it just went away.  I tore the closet apart looking for it and never found it.  I think my daughter may have taken it.  She has "disappeared" several items over the past 6-8 months.  :)  Either way, the thing is now truly orphaned.

Will, I probably have a couple at home. PM me your address and I'll mail you one.

Jon... thanks, man.  If you have one laying around, I'd certainly appreciate it.  PM coming.  :)

My favorite most recently is when I'm testing the completed pedal on the amp and it's upside down with the back off, I plug the guitar into the output and the amp into the input, and then wonder why I'm only getting bypass.

Every. Damn. Time.

Like, to the point where I won't do it anymore.  I put it right side up with the back plate there, but not screwed on.  Then if I need to adjust trimmers or something while it's hooked up and working, I flip it over after it's already connected correctly and working.

Right on. If you do put together another and a/b it you should post a video.

thanks again guys! I see that Tayda has the op275 so I'll give it a try, thanks for the tip!

Yeah, that's where I got mine as well.

Let me know what you settle on after you get to try a couple out.
Always curious about that sort of thing.

I tried the 2272, tl072, op275, and the nec5532.

We aren't talking about huge differences, but I felt the distortion was a bit more appealing with the op275.

Looks good, man.  I finished one of those up a couple weeks ago and I'm enjoying it.

What op amp did you end up using?  I tested out 4 different ones and settled on OP275.

It's Nerdular Nerdance.  Obscure Homestar Runner reference.
Strong Bad refers to "Popular Science" as "Nerdular Nerdance".

As I recall, CJ based this on the Iron Bell (muff variant)... it's taken me way too long to box this one up.  It really is excellent and actually replaced my Triangle-spec Large Beaver on my pedal board.

Another star wars themed etch for me.  It's fun and matches the board.  :)

I used glossy photo paper and a laser printer for the masking. And a roughly 1:1 mix of muriatic acid (15% concentration) and hydrogen peroxide (3%) for the etchant.

I haven't boxed anything up in a while (put together at least a half-dozen pcbs with a few more almost there) because I was sick of decals and wanted to try etching, but was putting it off and doing some research.

Finally took the plunge on a couple of boxes over the weekend.  They came out better than I expected, but not as good as they could be.  Still, good effort for the first time and I learned a lot.

First a Supreax Deux...

Came out alright... left it in a bit too long and got a little pitting and lost some detail.  Oh well.
Also didn't really plan this one out very well in terms of knob placement and graphics.  Really wanted the top mounted jacks, so I ended up having to flip the board and mount the controls upside down.  Oh well.  It's for me and I know what they do.  :)

Next a Mini-Me (based on the EHX Small Clone, I believe)

This one came out better.  A bit more shallow of an etch and I almost lost some detail sanding off the black paint, but overall better.  :)

And one last shot of them together:

I have nothing to add other than making sure you get proper credit for a solid Calvin and Hobbes reference.  :)
