Title: Hunter Fuzz
Post by: stringsthings on January 31, 2017, 10:41:46 AM
I finally got around to picking up a cheap camera.  ( walmart special  :) )
Excuse the glare.  I need to pick up a tripod on ebay.  It took me a while
to get some pics that weren't too blurry.

This is a build I did a few months ago after learning how to etch an enclosure.
It's one of the boards first offered from flanagan0718.   I was really happy with the way it turned out.
I'll probably pick up some metal washers for the 3PDT's.  Excuse the sloppy wiring.
That's never been my strong suit.  I've never sold a build, so I'm not picky on neatness.

Looks great man! Cool etch, love the design. I don't think the wiring is sloppy. Keep up the good work!

That etch is great! How did you do the toner transfer? I could never seem to get my iron hot enough for a big enclosure.

I'm glad people are liking this. It's cool to see a layout I did pop up here and there.

Once again killer etch man.

Good looking etch.  And good looking circuit!

Absolutely stunning artwork! Deserves WAY better than those fugly ass knobs.

Edit: I hope that comes across more as a praise of your artworks than a criticism of your taste  ;)

I pretty much followed Cody's tutorial.  HP Glossy Presentation paper works very well.
I just use a regular household iron set to about 1/2 way up the "dial".  I put the enclosure
on a piece of wood so that the heat stays with the enclosure.

For getting the surface flat, I use a sanding block that I picked up from walmart.
This really helps to get a nice smooth, flat surface for the transfer.  It's almost impossible
to get good results without a block of some sorts.  I'm guessing that a flat surface also helps
with heat transfer.

Killer etch. I agree, the finish outclasses the knobs. Good work!

That's a great etch. I've done many (back in the day), but nothing as advanced as that.

does the box have a type of laquer? What type of laquer do you use for bare aluminum? .. cool etch!

It's just several coats of Rustoleum clear.  It's inexpensive and you can find it at many places.
One disadvantage is that it chips more than other finishes.

Wow what a nice clean etch!
