fixed! just swapped out the MAX 1044 for another

I think what had happened is that I have the 17v pad tapped for an output...and using that to power my OCD probably messed up the 1044, I read in another post that it's probably not the right polarity or something...so I'll be cautious of trying that again

Hey all,
I'm trying to troubleshoot an old Fatpants V2 build...it's making some weird noises and my first guess is that it's something power or jfet related. thought maybe the jfet pinout was off but my J201 is positioned like how the board shows it. Maybe the charge pump?
measuring voltages...for one it doesn't seem like I'm getting the 17v past D3. Will look for other posted voltages...
thanks for any help!
It does respond to volume and body controls

Odd sounds I'm getting:

RIP, a big influence to me. One of the greatest and earliest "feel" players imho

looks great! which pickups are you looking at putting in?

I'm resisting the urge to do something similar...a strat or a jazzmaster
My parts Tele is my last guitar, put the most effort into getting a great neck: stainless steel frets, comfortable profile, locking tuners

reviving this. could you put a few caps on a switch in the C3 spot for attack control?
or maybe R6 as a pot is a better idea

curious if you could change cap values on a switch to give similar performance to a Jangle Box compressor (ross with cap switch iirc)

General Questions / Re: Sharkfin alternative

trying not to hijack op's thread, just trying to show what to expect
no it's clean on bypass. just noisy, has a bit of a volume drop when engaged. the S&H seems to mostly stick to like the sub bass range--I think it's because the transistor in Q4 has lower gain than a 2N5088

It's a temperamental circuit and I don't think there's much demand for S&H circuits, which is probably why it got discontinued. I bought one and am tweaking the circuit (asked about the build doc and Q4 tweaks in another thread).
best build doc I could find is https://web.archive.org/web/20180712194845/http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/Sharkfin/Sharkfin_2015.pdf
I've been out of the DIY scene for a bit and my options were to buy a Sharkfin second hand or look at clones on Reverb/Ebay

Here's what the circuit is presently like. I did noise reduction in post

I couldn't find the latest build doc for the Sharkfin (aka Maestro FSH-1). After some digging, I found this--is it the latest? https://web.archive.org/web/20180712194845/http://www.madbeanpedals.com/projects/Sharkfin/Sharkfin_2015.pdf

this is the pcb https://ibb.co/DQKN5DK
I'm trying to eliminate what sounds like some power whine (could be the charge pump?) and then swap a transistor to move the LFO up in pitch into a more musical range (looks like 2n5088 in Q4 should do the trick for that). Any help would be appreciated  :)

Here's what it presently sounds like (I did noise reduction in post, but it is noticeably there when effect's engaged)

I really like "magic eye" tubes and wanted to build one into an amp/pedal

saw this on reddit and thought you guys might enjoy

I'm thinking about chasing a similar thing with the Sega Genesis...

Been away from Madbean and music/pedals but I've been playing lots of H1Z1 King of the Kill, occasionally Rocket League, I beat Yooka Laylee. Preordered "The End is Nigh" and spiritual successor of (and for fans of) Super Meat Boy, coming out like tomorrowish!!

I've also been learning Unreal Engine 4...

quick question, couldn't you make the resistor in a HP/LP a pot and then have a passive EQ?
#14
Dang Juansolo! He got the NES in the back too. I wanted a Dreamcast in the early 2000s to give my parents a break from buying me a PS2, they got the PS2 instead!

Banjo Kazooie (on emulator) and Rocket League are the staples now. Even if you dont like soccer, cars, driving, or rockets...you need to try Rocket League.

Nice, and spring reverb!
