Hey all,
Anybody have any bass preamp recommendations? Can be vero, schematic, manufactured pcb, whatever. I think I saw one based on a fender baseman on DIYST but figured I'd ask here.
There's an ampeg one called the ginger, or a scrambled octave, or the sansamp tech 21. I like the ginger the best

My favorite DIY bass preamp is Rullywow's Canned Yam based on the Yamaha NE-1 http://www.rullywow.com/product/cannedyam/ (http://www.rullywow.com/product/cannedyam/)
If you want to go with an Alembic inspired preamp, that many bassists use and tube preamp at that, look at the Frog Tube Preamp PCB. I designed it. Just started to deliver it about 2 weeks ago. There are two threads. The development thread is: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=22173.msg227764#msg227764
The current/support thread is: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23234.0

I built one of these and really like it.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'm pretty sure I to build a few just because they all look like good options ;D.
Markeprice, I think I might snag one of those frog boards. Looks like a cool project!
I sent your Frog Tube Preamp PCB out this morning! Let me know when you get it. Follow along on the support/info thread: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23234.0 I hope people will post their project progress and of course any questions there as well. You are familiar with the website http://frogpedals.com too I guess. I'll be adding your pushpin on the Frog Maps this evening. Thank you very much!
Another preamp I am doing, is the Aionelectronics Lab series L5 preamp. It is a huge board and comes with 2 daughter boards and a label. He does great work!
+1 Tech 21 SansAmp, especially great for bass players who like heavy styles (imo).
