I've just never built a wah.
You should- it's fun! and maddening. You're just not allowed to enter it in the same contest as me.  :P

IF my over caffeinated and sleep deprived brain is reading the WWI schematic right... the FREQ control is taking the place of the c5-c7 suggestions... so leave that be. But it's mid-terms and work has been a demanding mistress on top of everything... I could be completely wrong. C1 is still C1 on both. That's a fact. Still recommend .12uf or .15uf for mo betta bass. Still a fact. I do also suggest socketing R2 and playing with values between 39k and 68k. Choice *should* affect output volume. I'm being nagged for date night and rightly so. Good luck!

I have been backlogged like a MOFO at work and school - let me look over both schems and I'll get you some values and where.

If you want to rock a black one go to Home Depot and get their 7/16 fiber washer in those pull drawers. Grab a round file and in 60 seconds you can file the hole just a bit bigger. I now ditch the white 3PDT washers for these fiber ones as well.

This is good to know. I was wanting a black washer for "The Stank"

Found an old console TV with record player and radio that the Wife and I are going to turn into a wine rack and liquor bar. When I opened the back to start pulling things out, I just couldn't resist going for the electronics. Found 3 blown caps and 2 busted tubes, gee wonder why it didn't work. Now we have zero interest in restoring it. But I did find a lot of interesting components.

RCA, Good-All, Sprague, and a Fairchild tranny. Resistors are unknown brand. Wonder what I can get into with these.

Jimilee - this is getting creepy :P

2 pedals you should have on the board if not in the closet. Fuzz and Wah.
You need one. You're just not allowed to enter it in the same contest as me.

I'll second those recommendations. Same values we used at the local music store for bass players when I was in highschool.

Recommend socketing R5 (stock is 1k5) and playing with it. It's your midrange sweep and you might benefit from changing it a little bit. Guitarists like 1k8 or 2k alot.
Play with C1 as well. .01u is stock - you'll get more bass out of your wah with a .012u .015u or .022u..
I think I have a rather nice .012 orange drop I could send you.

is not the best solution, but it works :P

Wrong! I'd say you just found the best solution! ;)
Yup!

What would you view as a workable max number of controls on a B sized box?

125B? I'd say 6. and it's tight. Look at Wampler's boxing.
1590B 4-5 depending . And it'd be tight.

Just my opinion. Feel free to have your own.

They used to use punches Dave. They had this whole large rig, with these big metal letter punches, and they would line it all up to keep it square. Labour intensive indeed.

Jacob

Wow, that's even worse.

Punches can be fun, but to align like they did (and with that much lettering) would be a PITA.

As of last week - It's still hand punches/stamps for Farndurk, and not going to change anytime soon.

Yep, first thing I thought was Farndurk.  Great looking builds.

I've chatted with Farndurk about their technique and it's a TON of labor just for their enclosures.

I like those red jacks. Where did you get them?

General Questions / Re: Cap polarity placement.
September 18, 2013, 05:28:54 AM
Q3 is part of the boost circuit. At the advise of Joe - I'm not going to use those polarized caps. They could induce noise. Got some PIO's on the way instead.

+1 on pedal enclosures. I have a nice ONE that's now candy apple red, sitting here waiting on a Chunk Chunk to be built and stuffed into it.

I have only stuffed 1 pedal in the size box it was intended for. I've never used a board mounted pot. Mounting wires in PCB holes - Brian shows a very nifty trick for that on his ZPDX build. And I've never had trouble with flying leads in PCB pot holes.

Board mounted switches are a different story if they aren't PC mounts but solder lug.
