Hey guys, I built this ROG Supreaux Deux and the build couldn't have been easier. Seriously great PCB.
When it came time to bias it, though, I noticed that I could only get Q1 to 12v like the instructions say. I turned both other trimpots all the way up and could only get it down to 17v. I tested it and really did like the way it sounded, so I boxed it up and now i get a loud whine when I turn the pedal on. In addition to this, I believe my R11 (a 50k trimpot) might be busted. It has a smooth rotation for about 2/3 of it and then it locks up and is really tough to turn.

Why do you think I can't bias to the correct voltage for my other two transistors, what should I check? I'm going to go write the voltages down and post them in a few minutes.

General Questions / TS808 Reissue true bypass?
April 01, 2017, 08:32:31 PM
Hey guys, I have a guy who gave me an 808 reissue to fix. His switch is dying on him (something that's pretty common) and I was wondering if it's a better option to install a soft touch switch in it or install a 3pdt as true bypass. If the later, does anyone have info on how? It apparently uses JFET switching, so I've heard there are some changes that need to happen. Thanks.

Build Reports / Maple Drive, plus a sound demo!
March 26, 2017, 11:38:33 PM
Here's another Maple Drive, very proud of this one. Focusing on making the inside clean and easy to look at.

Also I included a sound demo for those of you interested. Please let me know what you think, thank you!

Build Reports / Newest, and best, Maple Drive build
March 02, 2017, 02:11:38 PM

Built this one for a friend, I know the majority of people on here like pedals to be in as small of enclosures as possible but I love this one in the 125B, plenty of space (yes I shortened the tranny). Still want to get a sound demo up for you guys.

General Questions / What does a P6KE120 diode do?
February 28, 2017, 07:33:04 PM
Title mostly says it, I just don't know what it does. Is there a good replacement for it?

Open Discussion / Truest TS808?

Interested in building a TS808 but I want it to be as true as it could be. Any PCB suggestions out there?

Build Reports / The Maple Drive (my own design)
February 10, 2017, 12:02:55 AM
Here's the newest design of my bluebreaker style pedal, the Maple Drive. I'm super proud of the way this turned out. I built it for a friend and will be building them to sell to other friends but if anyone wants a PCB I could figure out price. Anyways, let me know what you think.

Mods / Replacing the footswitch of a Micro POG?
February 07, 2017, 08:18:14 PM
Hey guys, I have a friend who has a Micro POG that seems to have a shotty footswitch, he wants to sell it to me cheap to get rid of it. It engages the effect just fine but when disengaged it cut the signal out almost entirely. If I press the footswitch down halfway when the effect is off the signal then comes through. Sound like a footswitch issue to me. Only problem, the 3pdt has a daughterboard soldered to it with a ribbon cable going to the main board. How difficult would this be to replace?

General Questions / Drill template prints too small
February 05, 2017, 07:24:23 PM
Very weird, each time I print a drill template it is just a bit too small. I measured the enclosure/PCB while in Photoshop and they are correct, but they are definitely not once printed. I have to print the file to a PDF before printing it (I'm at college) any thoughts on this?

General Questions / Junction box that sums to mono?
February 02, 2017, 01:32:32 AM
Hey guys, I have a friend who was a sort of junction box for his board so he doesn't have to plug in and out of pedals to go to his amp. His last pedal is a BigSky, so he wants to run stereo from there to this box I'll make that has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. I was wanting to put a 1pdt switch on it so in one direction it sums both inputs to mono and the other it runs in stereo. Does this design sound like it would work?

General Questions / What size are JHS enclosures?
January 29, 2017, 03:22:01 PM
Hey guys, I'm just wondering what size the JHS enclosures are because I like that they are slightly taller than 1590B's. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I finished a pedal I designed (that is based around a Blues Breaker if you can tell) that I couldn't be more proud of, I am just wondering how one would make a drill template from it? Here's the board.

Looking for a sweet analog tremolo to build, any recommendations?

Hey guys, I built a Solaris (Fuzz Face) for a friend and it honestly sounds so good. Here's one question, is it normal for it to only reach unity with the volume knob totally dimed? The voltages seem low as well on the trannies. When playing through it the collector is only at -3v and the build doc says to bias it to -4.5v, but the bias pot is all the down off and will only make the voltage less when turned up. Any ideas? https://aionelectronics.com/project/solaris-fuzz-face/ the build doc

General Questions / Best Fuzz Face PCB?
October 24, 2016, 06:27:37 PM
Hey guys, a good friend and mentor of mine is looking for a sweet fuzz to add to a secondary board of his for looping and such. This guy is a maniac at guitar and I really want to build him a sweet fuzz.  He says he loves the Fuzz Face, so I'm wondering, what is the best PCB modeled after the Fuzz Face out there?

PS here is the board I wired for him if you want to see it.

GUYS OKAY. This is easily my most proud pedal building moment. I built http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=23173.msg227181#msg227181 using a board designed by irmcdermott (I'll link to this project at the end) but I strived, no, I longed for board mounted pots. Why you ask? Cause reasons. Maybe I really like board mounted pots that much, or maybe I wanted to challenge my Diptrace skills, either way I set out to redesign the board and get them printed from OSHpark. Not only does the circuit work, it sounds FANTASTIC. This OD is amazing, I won't lie about it. I already re-re-designed the board so that it isn't in this weird cross-shape. The second batch will be in rectangles. Take a look, let me know what you think. I'll make a sound-demo video at some point. Thanks all!

Original project: http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=8410.0

Also p.s. I asked irmcdermott if I could make a PCB of his project and never got a response, I don't wanna step on his toes or do anything I shouldn't but I'd love to sell these PCB's to anyone on the forum (not for a profit, just for what they cost me) because I think people would love this circuit. Thanks guys.

Title says it all. I follow this wiring diagram every single time.

So I guess my question is, how do I stop it? I know this is a huge can of worms I'm opening I've just begun selling some pedals to my friends and it's super unprofessional to have the pedals pop like they currently do. Thank you guys in advance.

Hey guys, I'm building my second Bearhug Comp (the first one I built was the original version) and for some reason I'm getting this like drive/fuzz sound in the signal. It isn't a clean compression like the other one is. The build went really well and I biased the test pad to around 5.5v like the instructions said but I'm wondering if anyone else ran into this issue? I'll gladly include pictures.

Hey all, the pot in my Ernie Ball VP Jr. is getting kinda scratchy, and I'm not into have little scratches in my swells. I've been trying to find the correct replacement part but honestly idk what kind of pot to use. I believe I have the 25k pot in there currently, should i upgrade to the 250k? I was thinking about buying it from Smallbear. Thanks.

Hey guys, here to show you my first 2-in-1 build. I named it The Miracle Mongin after my friend (his last name is Mongin, he has like 20 nicknames, Chunka Mike, Chunks, The Miracle Mongin, the list goes on). This was really challenging for me, I am insanely happy with how it turned out though. The LED for the Green Bean is green, and the Slow Loris is red. That makes me happy.

*I took this picture before I soldered on that effect switch board on, disregard how that is just sitting there.
