Title: Shipping delay/accident - UPDATE:back to normal
Post by: madbean on June 16, 2023, 12:20:35 AM
If you are waiting on any shipment from mbp, there will be a delay of another couple days. Apologies, I got in a wreck today and I am a bit fucked up. Fortunately, I am home and not in hospital.

You ok???

A bit messed up. I've got a hairline spinal fracture in the lower lumbar. But I was able to be discharged after a few hours. Not sure about recovery timeline. I have zero memory of it - I don't even remember getting in the car.

Wow, you don't need to be rushing anything then. Head trauma is bad news.

IKR? I quit THC for the most part 20 years ago, but they called in some Oxy. But the pharmacy was closed by the time wife got there. So, it's pretty unpleasant right now.

Thanks guys. I'll give an update in a day or two. This is probably going to be a few weeks to get back to normal.

Fuuug. Take care of yourself man. Back issues are the worst. Also, if you went to skyline, get a checkup elsewhere. :/
If you need an MRI done and they send you to premier, the new GE magnet in Hendersonville is a good one. I'd still recommend getting a disc burned(no pun intended) of the scans for your doc to view and any legal stuff. The cats reading those scans are doing it remote a lot now and blaze.thrpugh them. (I work on MRIs local...)
If you need a random act of kindness, reach out. I'm not far. Get well and take your time. Modern medicine can do a lot but it can't grow a new spine. Go slow and lift smart.

Thanks for all the great info! I will definitely get an image disc. They did the MRI in a mobile unit yesterday @ TriStar. Unfortunately, my short term memory has been pretty short circuited from the last week. The accident was caused by a seizure so I'm going to have some work to do.

A little update. Car appears to be totaled. I must have lost consciousness but I did not hit anyone. So, hairline fracture in the spine and I suspect another one in my ankle. I probably won't be able to drive for a while until I get neurologically cleared. Short term memory is way messed up.

But, I did see if I could still read a schematic this morning and that's all good! My expert opinion is I'll be fine after recovery 🙂 I expect I'll get current orders shipped tomorrow. I can at least sit in a chair and I'm already bored.

That's great news man! Sucks about the car, but good you didn't hit anyone.

This is pretty scary looking so I guess I am quite lucky. I landed in a small ravine apparently. Air bags did not deploy and that probably has something to do with my injuries. I feel pretty bad since my daughter is getting her license in a couple weeks and this was going to be her car to drive to school, etc. But, it's just a car. Working brains are more important!

Update 2: I am medically clear. Only normal abnormal, haha. No bad brain thing. I plan on getting back to work this coming week. Still limited since my back does hurt when I sits but I am miles beyond where I was a couple weeks ago.

That's great news! Maybe a desk that raises up and down would be more comfortable. I can't sit for more than an hour anymore, myself.

Let me echo everyone here who mentioned the standing desk. My back doesn't enjoy long periods of sitting either, and having one of those at the office has made the difference. When I'm working from home, I just have to make it a point to get up and move more. Glad to hear you're on the rebound, though!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. After a month of bed rest gotta say everything is stiff and sore. Time to increase my activity level. It's hard to believe this time last year I was riding my bike almost 100 miles a week. But, I won't be able to get back on it for some time. I'll have to do something dreadful like stretching or walking:)

Final update to the thread:

I should be completely healed in about 5-6 weeks. I feel well enough to start back on mbp now. So, I plan on getting the two unreleased projects out within a week. After that I've got quite a few more in the pipeline that could drop in Aug. and Sept.

Only bad news is my license is probably going to get a 6 month suspension (medical one due to the seizure). Most likely there will be no change on the customer end in terms of shipping orders but if that changes I'll let y'all know.

Thanks again to everyone that expressed support. I am way beyond ready to get back to business as usual.
