Title: Non-polarized Electrolytic ok?
Post by: pryde on March 04, 2012, 08:12:04 PM
Hello,

I have a "non-polarized" electrolytic cap, 2u2 for C1 of my mangler build. Is this ok to use in this here or do I have to have a polarized electrolytic for this position?

BTW: The mangler is NPN for -9v power. I have reversed all other polarity components already.

I was not aware that non-polarized electrolytics existed?

Thanks

You can use it. I have one in mine I accidentally got from Mouser awhile ago. Actually it is in my zygote, but it will work.

Edit: I would like someone else with more experience to chime in. I would feel bad if I was wrong...

Should be fine in this application, although there may be better sounding caps for that position. 2u2 may be rather large as a poly, but it looks like there's plenty of room on the PCB for it.
