Title: 2 Prong DC Jack Wiring Question
Post by: macfadyb on May 21, 2014, 04:10:30 AM
Hey Guys,

Working on my first build (Mudbunny Green Russian), and looking over the standard MadBean wiring diagram I'm unsure of exactly how to hook the power.  The diagram features a 3 prong dc jack (to include battery snap), but I can't figure out which is which on my jack!  I also will not be using a battery snap.

Here's the jack: http://www.bitcheslovemyswitches.com/#!/~/product/category=5027592&id=18921807

(The prong further away in the picture is longer)

Any help would be appreciated!

Also as a side note, is the G just left of the +9v socket on the PCB necessary for my purposes?

Thanks
Brian

The big prong is the pin of the jack. The one farthest away towards the outside is the sleeve.  The one in the middle is the one which is disconnected when you plug in a DC barrel plug (and usually connects to the 9v battery if equipped. If you look at the standard wiring diagram you will see what I mean.

Also, when in doubt....meter it out.  Use your dmm's continuity function to see and confirm it for yourself.

The long pin is 9v; the short pin is ground.
