Title: The Time Machine (Sea Urchin)
Post by: pickdropper on May 08, 2012, 12:51:22 PM
By far my geekiest build to date.  Also, my first attempt at doing an epoxy topcoat.  Not perfect, but I am pleased for the first attempt.

It sounds great.  It's full of timey-wimey wobbly bits.

wait a minute ... isn't that bigger on the inside than the outside?  ;)

Nice one.

Well, there is certainly a lot of room on the inside.  :-)

I was pleased at how well the controls correlated with the labels I wanted to use.

Time = Delay
Relative = Mix
Dimension = Feedback

looks great!
One thing I'm confused about is how the 7805 5v regulator I got looks like

but yours doesn't  ???

This one is heavier duty than you need. When you order, be sure to check that the 7805 is a TO-92 package, which is what the typical transistors we use look like. And yeah, I learned this one the hard way, too.

Also, this is an outstanding build. Congrats!

If this is what geeky builds are all about, sign me up!

I really need to do a build in a 1590bb so I can have the pleasure of even attempting this kind of super neat wiring!

Yeah, a 1590bb wasn't really necessary for this build.  I used a larger box because I wanted it for the artwork and knob layout.  Maybe silly, but I'm happy with how it turned out.

Looks like Dr. Who is about to make a hard landing in Van Gogh-Ville.  :D

It does hide a bit in the artwork, doesn't it?  I can't say I put a lot of effort into hiding it; the color of the LED just kind of blends in.

Thanks for the kind words.
