Title: New octaver fuzz for an Hendrix vibe. Suggestions?
Post by: pietro_moog on March 08, 2019, 11:25:59 PM
Hi guys.
I am reworking my pedalboard in a Hendrix/Van Halen direction and i want an octaver fuzz.
Currently I have a Superfuzz (awesome) but it's too much. The first choice would an Octavia, but i'm not sure.
I don't have any experience with the Wyllie Moonrock, but i'm interested.

I'm open to suggestions. What do you think?

Start with the Octavia and then build all of the other ones.

Josh at JHS just did a VLOG on octave fuzz. https://youtu.be/WtBIP5X1HgA

You know, I've softened my JHS-hater stance over seeing him do these blogs.  Very knowledgeable guy.

It should go without saying that the Retrograde and Wolfshirt featured on this site are both great examples of the effect, with the most  Hendrix-centric one being the Retro.  They're both cheap and easy builds without having to find unicorn-class parts, and both highly recommended.
