Deadringer II, Sunking II, Zero Point Micro II, Zero Point Mini, NomNom, Naughty Fish, Kingslayer II as well as more Weener Wah and Kranken PCBs.
- Project docs will be up over the next 24-48 hours.
- I will be doing demos of the Sunking, Deadringer, ZP Mini, and Nom Nom. These will be built on production boards instead of using my prototypes so it will take me a bit of time.
- I will post the demos as soon as I can get things built and boxed up.
- Limit of 5 Sunking boards per customer so more people have a chance to get one. If I do another batch I won't put a limit on them.
- Shipping rates have changed: Domestic shipping is now $2.50. $50 and over is free 1st Class. I brought back free Priority for $100 and over. For International, the rates are the same, but I pushed the ranges further so smaller orders are cheaper to ship now. We'll see how this goes.
- The Projects Page has been re-organized a bit
Nom Nom Nom, this is going to be Naughty! 8)

Being new to the site, I was going to ask about the Sunking and how to order one. I am going to order one now. Im super pumped!!
AHHHH do I get a Kingslayer or a Sunking!?

Do what I did, get both and decide later. lol

The new Deadringer might be the be all and end all of Tubescreamers.
Is it just me, or does the "Order" link for the Bacon Bits not work? It sends me to Paypal's website, not to the shopping cart. Don't have this with the others?!
Looks like I broke some of the code on the Baby Boards buttons. All fixed now. Just be sure to refresh the page next time you load it up. Thanks for the catch.
Quick update: I'm working furiously on the new documentation and it will be up as quickly as possible. All the orders from this new batch will be processed tomorrow and shipped Monday morning.
The ZP MINI is an awesome project
Thank you! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Plus, I've been jonesing to incorporate some of those plastic shaft pots in a project since they are so cheap now.
Brian, great job on the Kingslayer2 doc and thanks for including a link to your Photoshop template for it. Saved me a bunch of time.

Cool, thanks!
All the docs are up except for the Deadringer2. I have to put in some time processing orders before people start flooding me with emails, but I will do my best to get the Deadringer completed tonight.
After reading the build doc, I should have ordered more than one Sunking (it's this new mantra I'm trying out - I don't need to build three variants of every circuit. Clearly it's a misguided decision on my part, and I will have to change it).
It's also easily the funniest build doc I've ever read. Well done.
Madbean - you say in the Kingslayer 2 doc about not knowing how to do the buffered/true bypass switch.

It's a great build doc, but I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a part number for the card table on the BOM.
I just assumed the card tables were unobtanium as well; hence not listed on the BOM :P
And how excited is Jimi that there's bass specs?

Thanks, Ian. It wasn't so much not knowing how to do it, but rather not knowing how they did it. Specifically, you would want to lift the pulldown resistor in buffered bypass mode which to me looks like it would require a 3pdt toggle. But, it's such a minor thing I can't see it having a negative influence on the outcome. If it has already been dissected on FSB, people may just want to go with that setup rather than my solution. I did not know Paul had chimed in (I don't check in there too often).
Actually, a 1M resistor in buffered bypass does seem to darken the tone somewhat. I accidentally put it on the first layout of the 1590a Klon boards I did. I think Cleggy was the one that caught it. I was just so used to putting a pull down there.....
It's actually 2M2 in this case. I know for a fact that is what he used in the KTR (or it might have been 2M...whatever). Still, I'm not really sure how the pulldown would load the signal, especially considering it is buffered right after that. It might be possible to leave the pulldown off altogether, regardless of what bypass method you use. I'll check it out as soon as I can get to it. My curiosity is piqued.
Well, it might be different with 2M2. It's possible it was all in our heads, but I believe that all three of us (me, Juansolo and Cleggy) felt it was a little dark and it seemed to improve by snipping the 1M.
I also felt the build sounded different with MLCC caps vs electros and I've always been a capacitance is capacitance guy. I'd have to double-check how close the MLCC caps were being run to their rated voltage as they derate as they get close.
Interesting, indeed.
I'm still new to the whole PCB build idea. When it says PCB mount for the pots, does that mean I should get right angle PCB mount pots? From looking at the layout on the build document, that seems to make the most sense. I am having trouble trying to visualize using straight pcb mount pots? Does that make sense? Apologies if this is common knowledge, just want to make sure I can use the pots to hold the board in place. I'm probably gonna order screw standoff hardware from Small bear as well.
Also, thank you so much for the detailed build document. That really helps doodes like me ;D
Brian, great job! The all look fantastic. I'll wait with my order till the delay madness starts in may and get it all in one bunch. I hope there's still a Kingslayer left by then.
I also have one question, we've been over quite often... The sunking is the version of the two which is closer to the original Klon (TM). I say "closer to" rather than "the same". It just looks to me from the schematics that the sunking has gained quite a few options to the original Klon (TM). What is the advantage of Kingslayer vs. Sunking.
Please don't get me wrong, this is not a complaint or anything, I'm just a little confused since the sunking seems to have a lot of new options.
Again: Kudos!

yes, that's exactly what it means. It just makes everything pretty neat since you don't have to run wires around the enclosure. on the down side you have to drill really exact or the pots won't fit -> DRILL PRESS

Sweet! Thank you so much for getting back to me. Right angle Pcb pots it is then! And luckily I do own a drill press! Pretty and neat is what I strive for. Well that and tone, but you know how that goes.

What the heck are all those numbers on the Sunking drill template?

No need, someone already decoded it (it's replacement -1).
come have a look (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=15190).
The final project doc, the Deadringer 2, has been uploaded. I will be working on orders through the night and except to ship everything tomorrow. Thanks for your patience, guys! This was quite a doozie.
....wooooah..tnx Brian..that Deadringer2 is a beauty..perfect..just what i needed..tnx again
I look forward to the release of your build docs like "normal" people look forward to books or movies.
I like reading them even if I don't even plan on building it.
...same here icecycle66...i love to read them even if im not building them...i have a printed compilation of madbean projects...and everytime a take a poooh...i read them..haha..
Dump Docs?
Well, I'm glad you guys appreciate them. I feel like they are getting a lot better.
..i really appreciate it Brian..putting so much time on the projects Docs...i love 'em that's why i printed and binded them...i learned so much just by looking at the schematics...must have been those sprinkled beans dust!...tnx again
This seems like the right switch alternative for the Deadringer:

Oh. Thanks. Hadn't even seen that one, duh.
Will this work and fit?
I think it should fit, they are about same size.. and you need just one pole for deadringer2
Cool. I was already panicking.
Brian,
Thanks for these, I've been awaiting a few.
One quick note, on the last sentence of the first page of the Sunking II, I think it should read:
"This means it is not a direct copy of the Klong, and I do NOT represent it as such."
Not that it really matters...or maybe it does.

It only matters in the sense that if you follow some of the ridiculous threads on TGP concerning the Klon, people argue until they are blue in the face over what a "Klone" is and whether or are they truly are the "Klon". I'm circumventing any bro-hah-hah that will inevitably take place once a Sunking2 build shows up on TGP by stating it is not a Klon copy...it is a Klone, which is a variation of the Klon. And, I outline the reasons for this in the doc notes. Consider it a "CYA" statement, nothing more.
Yeah i understand that's what you're trying to say, but your sentence is missing the "Not" that I highlighted. Sorry, I know it's a bit anal.

Oops, that is a dumb error on my part. Thanks for the correction. I will re-up the corrected pdf.

Ha, have you seen the new Earthquaker Overdrive:

Looks like they had a similar idea as on the Deadringer with the rotary switches.
Cool! I really like EQD and that looks pretty sweet.
I saw a cool demo on it, I think it was pro guitar shop and it looked pretty bitchin!
