It's nice seeing more people using clear shaft pots & knobs with LEDs! Looks nice! I also dig the knob and switch locations on your pedals. I've always thought that having the knobs spread across the whole width of horizontal pedals with the switch in the middle left little room to stomp. I like that yours are on opposite sides. Bravo!

Good eye! For some reason I didn't catch that. I usually just ignore color codes anyways since I'm semi-color blind. I just must have assumed that they were pale colors that I couldn't make out.

It's funny you should mention that about the transistors and diodes. I've been following the bassdrive thread over at freestompboxes and someone posted an out of focus picture of their bassdrive MOSFET which uses the same board as the Fulldrive 2. On that board you can see what appears to be 2 germanium diodes connected to the clipping transistors. Upon further inspection of a more hi-res fulldrive, you can clearly see markings on the board for diodes.

One interesting thing is that this particular fulldrive has a resistor in the D9 spot. Others I've seen have a resistor there as well as D6 (also, 9 diodes?!). Anyways, it appears I shall have to socket some components to see what sounds best.
On another note, if one were to go off of the following layout, how could one alter the layout in order to accommodate for the extra diodes?

So, I'm working on building a Bassdrive clone, which is almost the exact same circuit as the Fulldrive, save 4 caps. I've built a Bassdrive clone before using a layout from freestompboxes.org. However, after re-visiting this project I have noticed that the layout I used didn't have a 1K resistor (R2 in the schematic below) in the input buffer that the deadringer has.

My question is, what is the purpose of this resistor and would not including it yield any noticeable difference(s)? Here's the schematic which has been altered for the Bassdrive values (not by me):

Quick question regarding the curve of a pot being used as a variable resistor (as opposed to a voltage divider). Does the curve matter in regard to effectiveness? Or, does the curve simply determine the "feel" of the pot. I've read on some posts (God knows where in the vastness of the internet) that using an incorrect pot taper will yield a pot that doesn't work correctly. Is that only the case for voltage dividers?

A friend of mine just put out a new record that was produced by Matt Goldman (Underoath, Anberlin, Copeland). It takes a few listens because it's mostly non-repetitive. But it's been one of the best albums I've heard in a few years. You can stream the whole album for free on bandcamp:

So far, my favorite track is the one from the second video, Dead Sea. Although, The Chalice has a pretty great chorus, IMO. Check 'em out though. I really dig them.

Open Discussion / Blender: Bypass necessary?

So, I'm thinking of building a splitter/mixer to blend my bass with my various distortion pedals. I'm looking at this JFET Parallel looper- http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2010/11/jfet-parallel-looper.html
My question is- if I don't include a bypass switch for the blender, will I experience a potential volume drop when the blended effect is disengaged? For example, say I'm blending my clean signal with a fuzz, with the fuzz at unity. When disengaging the fuzz circuit, while still having the blend circuit running, will could there be a volume drop?
