Open Discussion / CNC milling machines, low price?
September 12, 2018, 09:32:33 PM
Hi guys, I just found some old entries / threads for pcb cnc milling machines.
Because there´s lots of these thingies on ebay, I wondered if someone made some experience with these (cheap) machines.

Of course, they´re cheap (around 200-500 euros / dollars) and I don´t expect any high-grade-top-notch-stuff, but it´ll be interesting for me
if there´s any fair offer, which I could try for home usage.

So, I´d highly appreciate any advice on some valueable mills out there.
Of course, if there´s any actual thread, plz send me a link.
tia,
regards,
Carsten

General Questions / Aristocrat on 12 or 18v
February 12, 2017, 12:19:18 PM
Hi, I "found" my old Aristocrat PCB from the old days and wanted to re-build the pedal.
I wondered if I can supply 12 or 18v to it...or not. I searched the forum but could't get a proper answer.

So, simple question: possible or not? :P

Tia guys,

Open Discussion / working PCB for Bixonic Expandora?
March 09, 2015, 07:51:43 PM
Hi guys,
I recently found some schems on the web, which shows some "tryouts" about the Bixonic Expandora.
Unfortunately, they all seem to be not verified at the moment.
I also found a complete, well let´s say "pcb-build-by-pro" document, but - of course - without the schematic.

Has anyone here seen a complete plan / build, which is verified?
Otherwise I´d really like to build one so maybe there´s some chance to find it in the "extra projects" section some day?

Maybe I´ve missed something in the other big forum, like BYOC, DIYSB, FSB.
I know, that there´s a perfboard out there - at least I´ve seen one, some time ago.

regards
Carsten

p.s. If I should post the stuff I´ve got, plz let me know.

The Dunlop wall-wart arrived today. Believe it or not: the pedal is dead silent now ;D
It really has been an issue of the EHX power supply, I didn´t expect that.

thx

ok. first problem solved:
the INT pot was broken with a short circuit inside (I suspect....). Changed to a new one and it sounds as it should.
Still to find:
the cause for that annoying hum. I ordered a Dunlop ww and hope, that´ll fix it.

resoldered all (!) connections to avoid cold solder anywhere.
We´ll see.

Thx so far

Hi, this one is center tap positive, but it´s wired that way.
I had to order another socket for the power connection, coz it´s slightly bigger than the normal pins / sockets.
any other suggestion?
I may order a Dunlop and send it back, when there´s no difference. we´ll see.

thx RobA

Hi guys,
I just finished my Harbinger one (old Layout) and seem to have some issues, maybe you got some clues for me:

- EH wall-wart, 18V
- LM7815AC IC
- LDRs / bulb from Banzai, recommended parts for Univibe-build

The sound-volume of the fx is very low -  but I get a very loud hum. It seems like a hum from the wall wart or some grounding issues?!?  :o
Pushed the button (bypass) and the guitar signal is perfectly silent to the amp, no hum, no issues. Activating the fx and it´s humming like hell.

I can´t help, but I think it might be the wall-wart. It´s an Electro Harmonix, 18V, 500mA - so I think there´s no fault with the voltage. I got no other wallwart with 18v so it´s difficult to change, nor do I have  the charge-bump IC at hand, so I can´t change to 9V at the moment.

Does anybody have some experience with the EH wallwart?

Any help or ideas will be appreciated.
If you nee any more information, plz let me know.

Regards
Carsten

Open Discussion / Re: Best packing material ever!!!!!!!

 :o
I don´t want to know, what size / values he will use to pack some big stuff...like tubes or something?
Maybe he fills it up with these.....

"Hell yeah....got some of these babes lying ´round here....well, well, well, let´s stuff them in here.....!"

thx to all,
especially the advice for the multilayer cap!
....got to place an order.
I built the Ross-comp some time ago and I´m wondering, if the Keeley really is "top-notch" as everybody admits.
thx guys
:)

Hi,
I found the attached "instruction" to build a Keeley 4K-Comp, based on the tonepad layout.
Though I´m not speakin spanish, maybe someone can help me, if I translated the pic in the right way.
I will start left upper corner and go ccw (attached pic).

- Sustain pot will be 500k C instead of the 500k-B
- Attack pot will be a 150k-C, connected to the 150k resistor, omit the 150k resistor
- Cd will be changed to 150pF cap
- All of the 1uF / 10uF elecs will be changed to tantal caps, 25V or 35V, same value
- 1uF elec on the right lower corner will be changed to np metalfilm or film cap, value: 1uF
- 2k trim-pot may be replaced by 2 x 1k resistors
- clipping pot is connected to 1uF cap and 1M resistor, trace between 1M R and 1uF C will be cut
- 0.05uF cap in the upper center will be changed to 47nF cap
- Level-pot will be changed to 50K-B

maybe some spanish speaking member is willing to help me or somebody who already built the C4?
tia to all
regards,
Carsten

Hi guys,
sorry for posting an eb** link, but I never saw a guitar like this before and I thought, it might be inspiring for all you FX maniacs out there  :o
I saw that one in real last thursday, and it´s exactly like shown.

I´m not in contact with the seller, nor do I get any advantages buying a guitar at his store.
If it´s too "off topic", plz delete this topic.

Carsten
