Hi everyone,

I'm building one of the mini-muff boards (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=8115.0) to 71 triangle specs.

I want to use the mids pot but don't see a pot value in the build doc. What's the appropriate value here?

Thanks!

Love my weener (that was fun to write) but its still got a bit of scratchy noise towards the treble end. How do I get rid of this?

Some say bumping up R2 from 220ohms would work. Others say R4? Or could it be a bad pot? If so, how could I tell?

I just built another one to similar specs and it is totally quiet. Biggest difference are R4 and the trannies.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

I got the fancy Smallbear tranny that comes w/ the matched resistors

where do they go on the bean rangemaster board? R1 & R2?

thanks

Not stylistically but purely from a power standpoint?

So lets say I did a tubescreamer with 4 lighted pots, indicator LED and a lit baseplate. Would that draw too much power from the circuit and lessen the effect?

Thanks!!

General Questions / Sabadius soul inductor?

Anyone have one & like it?

Using it in my next wah build for a buddy. Also, what is the pinout on that guy?

Thanks!

Howdy,

Couple questions here.

Question 1--I built up the v3205 dirtbag about a month back using all of the updated revisions per the build doc. Still getting pretty hissy repeats and can't seem to bias it out. Did a lot of research on here and then I read this post by bean:

http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=3332.0

where he says to remove R14 as it it is the greatest source of distortion. Was that the latest revision? That still accurate? Would that help here? If not, what would?

Question 2 --When playing there is a significant delay from when I strike the note until it is processed and spit out by the dirtbag. Is this a function of all dirtbags or just the 3205 version? My memory boy and carbon copy do not seem to have the same issue. (Well they do, just not to such a great degree). If it is a symptom of only the 3205 would a conversion to a 3005 at a higher voltage alleviate this?

Again, great build, love it. Just want to refine it further. Thanks!!!

That possible?

for a pedal build?

other than........it's likely not very practical of course.

I just would love the look of it. Thanks!

General Questions / Triangle 71 Muff trannies
March 15, 2013, 04:52:00 PM
Howdy,

Getting ready to do pickroppers mini-muff and I'm hoping to do the 71 Triangle. From what I've read the super fancy trannies required for these builds seem to pretty unavailable.

So, if I were to build it up to the 71 triangle specs and use the same trannies with modern day readings would it sound similar? Or is it better to just go with a more standard triangle build?

Thanks!

Build Reports / Grade A Delay (Neptune)
March 08, 2013, 09:39:28 PM
Bumskis:

Pots are backwards per the board and I flubbed the LED by pulling a pad but a jumper fixed that right up.

My star graphic didn't quite align right so i got bit of white poking through.

First time used waterslides on the slides and if I do it again I'd do them separately so they'd line up better instead of like side-flaps off the top graphic like I did.

Also, need to buy a couple of outtie DC jacks for tight spaces like this.

Oh yea, and I labeled Decay as Delay. Farts!

Super Awesomes:

Super fun build. Pretty easy to put together, stuffing it in a 125B wasn't bad. Love the warp feature.

First attempt at mult-color build where I line-up the waterslide. Not the easiest but I learned a lot and could do much better next time.

I really really like this one. Delay sounds great. Goes into runaway territory no problem. Great footprint on the board. I feel terrible even thinking this but I might like it more than the 3205 dirtbag I just built.

Which makes me hurt inside a little to say.

Anywho, here are some pics. I like the military them cause even if you dirty it up or fudge it up somehow it still looks appropriate as a worn item.

Would it be possible to have a 2 color LED.

use color 1 to indicate on/off of effect

use color 2 to indicate when warp is engaged?

If so, what would that look like?

Thanks

Tech Help - Projects Page / Neptune Delay questions

Howdy,

Board is about done.

Just realized I don't have another 22k for R12. Matter if I go down to 15k for this one?

Also, the LDR & LED, do they need to be under some magic hood of some sort to work? I've seen builds with and without them?

Thanks!

built up, love it, lots of fun so far. I'm still trying to figure it out so I have some minor questions for ya

from what I've read it sounds like most of these have bit of white noise/hiss in the background?

I'm fine w/ that just want to make sure that's normal.

also the overall voice seems to be a bit darker than my Memory Boy. again, totally fine just want to make sure that everything is normal there.

when people say they get 500ms of delay........how does one measure that?

also, what settings give you the max delay? I mean, yea, I get that if you crank the delay knob full over you get max but you need some feedback & blend in there to get repeats and the fun stuff we associate with echo/delays

last thing is that when comparing the strength of my repeats to other delays I have they seem to fade off a bit faster on my d-bag. that normal or can it be tweaked with the internal trimpots?

thank you very much!

Build Reports / Father Time (dirtbag). I fear no build...

...Cuz I finished my dirtbag today. Took me about 3 weeks of slowly hacking away at it here and there. Ended up great because I didn't feel compelled to rush it at the end like I normally do. Worked first time after figuring out the biasing bit.

Thank you bean for the biasing help today. Got it dialed in and I love it

Also thanks to whoever I stole the graphics from on here so I could in turn bastardize them for my own use!

Tech Help - Projects Page / V3205 Dirtbag help please

Howdy,

Broke cardinal rule #1 by not rocking it before boxing it. I think this will be the final straw as far as me making excuses for not creating a test rig.

That said, here we go and may bean forgive my stupidity.

(1) Project Name--Dirtbag v3205
(2) General description of the problem--Bypass works. Indicator LED works. No output when effect is engaged.
(3) Steps that you have taken to try to resolve the issue--Twisted knobs every which direction. Used audio probe to try and find some signal. Found some good signal but having difficulty figuring out where it stops.

IC 1-signal
IC 2-signal
IC 3-NO signal
IC 4-signal
IC 5-no signal. weird whining noise? Almost sounds like oscillation?
IC 6-signal
IC 7-NO signal. clock ticking? Just goes "tick tick tick tick"
IC 8-NO signal
IC 9-NO signal

I've also tried prayer.

(4) List any substitutions you used for parts/values-all the V3205 revisions per the updated build doc

Here's a couple pics that may or may not be helpful.

Willing to do whatever. Just could use some direction. Thanks!

dumb question but I'm asking it.

I only have monos right now. thanks

Howdy!

Using my standard boring inkjet printer at home to print out my waterslide decals. Done it plenty of times with no issue.

This time I did a mock-up on normal paper to check for sizing. Worked great. Only black ink.

Checked ink levels. Nominal. Near full black ink.

Went to print on waterslide........printed top portion in brown (even though I chose grayscale) and then faded out.

Tried to reprint. Nothing.

Tried again. Nothing.

I'm going to go back and try again on regular paper but man, so weird.

Ghost in the machine or weird printer setting? EH?
