Title: New Dog Day!
Post by: peAk on March 25, 2018, 06:04:34 PM
So as some of you know, I recently lost my dog of 12 years and was totally crushed. I wasn't sure if I could get another but realized quickly I couldn't be without.

Well, a couple of weeks ago I decided to rescue another dog from the shelter

Meet Daisy! She's a sweetheart and approximately 2 years/65 lbs. She's brought a ton of joy to the family and her energy is thriving!

I just did a DNA test on her and should have the results on her breeds in 6 or so weeks

Any guesses?

That's wonderful that you adopted a shelter pet.  I have one shelter cat and 2 more that were strays.
They're the best pets anyone could hope for.  I'm sure Daisy is super happy to have a new home.

I'm guessing Canis lupus familiaris.

Don't know what she is but she is beautiful and looks quite content! Her big paws and muzzle makes me think you are going to need a big food budget!

This dog is a very good dog. I can tell because my job is to know these things.

Congrats on the new pup! If I had to guess from the photos, there may be a little American Saffy, and those ears and her colors make me want to say some kind of sheep dog. I've got two rescue mutts at home, and it was really fun finding out their DNA results!

Thanks guys

Hope to get back to building soon. She's been taking up most of my spare time.

I'll update the thread when the DNA results come in.

So the DNA results are in!

Basically she's 50% Siberian Husky and 50% Pit (Terrier)

For the complete results:

Really happy with the DNA test. They checked for all kinds of stuff, including disease genes. She only a carrier of one but she spayed so no worries. Clear of like 125 others.

Anyway, thought I would share
