Build Reports / Dirtbag Delay
February 26, 2012, 11:54:43 AM
When the Dirtbag first came out I wanted to build one but thought that it would be beyond me and that I would never get any MN3005's and couldn't justify the price. Well when I saw the3secondrule's Board and 2 Genuine MN3005's for sale at a great price I jumped at the chance.

The board as per all Madbeans boards is of fantastic quality and the layout on this one is amazing , I am loving board mounted pots :).  It was a tight fit in an Eddystone 1590bb that I had laying around

I only had one issue and that was no modulation due to a bent pin on IC7 which was soon sorted once I was pointed in the right direction.

Big thanks to Madbean and t3sr

Went for the classic DMM look.

Thanks Brian, didn't explain it very well initially.

Just took voltages and they looked way of compared to another thread so I had another look around ic7 and then decided to swap it out to discover that pin 2 had been bent under when inserting.. Bugger !!!

IT WORKS PERFECT - I AM SO HAPPY

Thanks Brian (that's genuine thanks not in a "Thanks Ken" Kind of away lol )

Build report to follow

I only get a warble as I turn the pot.  You know like when you turns pots on a delay/chorus whilst playing you get all kinds of crazy sounds.

With the pot static in any position I get no modulation at all

Tech Help - Projects Page / Dirtbag no Modulation
February 25, 2012, 08:10:39 PM
So when I built my MN3005 Dirtbag at 15v  and it fired up first time and I  got it biased up pretty easily I was over the moon.  After a day or so I realised I had had no modulation at all :D.

The only sub I can think of that might have affected it is CD4047ube for  CD4047BCN

When playing if  i turn the modulation pot I get that modulation noise with the pitch changing like you would expect when turning the pot.  Also when flicking the switch I also get a pitch warble.  But after that no modulation whatsoever

I have checked all values around the Mod section

Any ideas guys?

General Questions / Re: Sunking output

The standard wiring diagram assumes that the output jack sleeve connects via the metal enclosure to the other grounds.  You can just connect it to a spare ground pad or a ground on the switch

^ gets my vote.  Will the grey penciled Bender show up on the enclosure though?  An where abouts in Yorkshire  :)

Open Discussion / Re: Do you like bunnies?

I like bunnies but I am a bit miffed now that I bought the old layout a month or two ago and this one is way better with Board mounted pots :(

Nice builds :)
I also found mine a lot easier to bias at 15v
I use a burkey six power supply rather than roadrages

Some good quality pics of both sides of  the board might help

Sounds similar to this problem here.  http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=3637.0

I emailed them a while ago and the minimum charge is about 15$ to Europe which was for a standard shipping box

Yep 180 out doesn't matter
I learnt by doing it wrong :o and finding the answer on a forum somewhere

I think your footswitch is all wrong.  It should be turned 90 degrees for that wiring diagram
