Title: IMC no longer included w/ Tractor Beam board?
Post by: TeleCrunch on December 07, 2019, 10:36:52 PM
I just realized that i didn't receive a 1MC 5% pot with my MB Tractor Beam board I ordered a few months ago. It says in the build doc that it's included, maybe it no longer is? Can I use a regular C1M - 1 Meg Reverse Log pot (10%) in it's place without much loss of functionality?

it is an error in the build doc.  the supply of that pot ran out over a year ago, I believe.  I think the BOM notes it needs to be ordered but the text of the build doc still refers to it as included.

The only difference is the tolerance. A normal 1M pot can have an actual resistance anywhere from 900k to 1.1M. A 5% tolerance would shrink that to 950k to 1.05M.

A normal 1MC will work just fine. It will just have its settings at slightly different spots on the turn than the 5% tolerance might (or it might not, since your 10% device could easily fall within the 5% tolerance range).

You should have received one. I 'll get one out to you. Sorry for the mistake.

My recollection was faulty on that piece no longer being included.  Sorry.
