Hi all. Going to do my first pedal with a hammer tone finish. Wondering if there are any tips for using it or is it pretty much the same as any spray paint?

Use heavier coats than you would normally apply with a standard spray paint.

Apply with a sponge. Dabbing on rather than rubbing on (if that makes sense).

Don't use the spray stuff.

Get a better hammered effect using sponge method in my experience.

Already bought the spray can. Didn't know there was an alternative.

Me neither.  Never seen it in the states.

Here you go, is Rustoleum the brand for the hammer spray people use?

You might want to see if you can get some ideas and suggestions from John Lyons posts in threads at diystompboxes, he does some really interesting coats combing different colours, i'm sure i read he'll put it in the fridge and cool it before spraying to achieve different textures etc.

If my photos are missing again... they're hosted by photobucket... and as of 06/2017 being held hostage... to be continued?

I may have to use that on my next couple of builds.  Been wanting a hammered finish.

I use Hammerite brand (what you can get in the UK).

Cold weather certainly does seem to help with getting maximum hammer effect.

Also, dont use any primer/undercoat. Apply straight to the bare enclosure.
