A bit of storytime. I looked forward to Rocksmith for quite awhile, had fun on guitar mode with the strat and telecaster... then it occured to me, I have a P-bass, Rocksmith has a Bass mode.
So I plug in the P-bass (volume and tone bypassed in a futile attempt to reduce hum, Rocksmith moaned about input levels being too high...) and kick it into bass mode.
I try the first couple noob songs (the Pixies one, I think), Satisfaction (surprisingly difficult), don't even think of trying anything RHCP-related, and then spot a quirky album cover. "This album's name is BROTHERS." _Next Girl_. "The Black Keys"... I think I've heard of them before, dunno 'em.
Holy crap, I think I'm in love with that bass. Especially with the sustain my el cheapo Squier P-bass with stock strings and setup (more than a couple years old) has. New second favourite band. (Nothing is likely to shake Oasis. "Bring It On Down.") Especially when I hear "The Big Come Up".
So, to get to the point, what fuzz or effects and amp/cab did they use on Next Girl for the bass? It sounds AMAZING.
I don't know what they use...but they certainly have lots of great tones.... :)
Been listening to the Black Keys on a regular basis for a while now....groovy music to drive.
Dan foro Black Keys talks about it here.
