Title: what if i dont get the exact capacitor value?
Post by: Gledison on July 11, 2013, 09:08:48 PM
Hey Guys,
sorry for the stupid question. I remember that I  saw this somewhere, but cant find anymore.
if I need a 25uF Cap, shall I go for the closest one I find up ? like 30uF would be ok?
it will make too much difference in the end?
cheers!

Electrolytics, 20% tolerance, 22uF (+/-4.4uF so 26.4 or 17.6uF) is close enough for jazz.

You mean Grandpas guitars music? Death Metal  >:(   ;)

Values like that can make differences to specific filtering but at 25uF it ain't gunna make much difference i'm betting. I also bet it's probably for a vintage build as 22 is the standard nowadays where as 25 and 50uF are older values.

Cap values make a big difference in tone controls and such, but most other places it doesn't matter much.
