Title: SMD with hot air
Post by: billstein on September 04, 2013, 05:17:34 AM
Did a quick search and didn't see much on this. Has anybody tried SMD with solder paste and a hot air gun? If so, what are your thoughts. Is it as easy as it looks?

There is a high frequency lab where I work and I had a guy use this method for some SMA connectors I needed attached. Looked pretty freaking easy although he had been doing it forever. He had the paste in a syringe like tube and pasted it on with a needle. He used both a little butane torch and an iron.
