Title: Schoon Toon Problem (?) / Engineer's Thumb
Post by: Tremster on September 22, 2013, 04:53:16 PM
And another question:

today I finished building JMK's Engineer's thumb (http://www.jmkpcbs.com/Store_files/Engineer%27s%20Thumb.pdf (http://www.jmkpcbs.com/Store_files/Engineer%27s%20Thumb.pdf)) including Jon's Treble Mod (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=9109.msg79529#msg79529 (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=9109.msg79529#msg79529)), everything worked fine before boxing up.
Built it into an enclosure using Jubal's Schoon Toon (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=8427.msg73062#msg73062 (http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=8427.msg73062#msg73062)) for the first time and boom, no signal.
I get bypass and the LED does light up when on. Can't see any wrong parts values and all the wires seem to be in the right places.
Hmm.
Question:
The Compressor PCB has its own CLR on it, and so does the Schoon Toon. So now I have two CLRs, hadn't thought about that before. Also: the ET PCB has a place for the LED + and the Schoon Toon does have a place for an LED, I used the Toon's and omitted the LED from the ET PCB. I only used the 9V+, in, out and the gound pad on the bottom left on the PCB.

OR might it just be some poor soldering or anything similarly dumb?

Thank you!

Chances are high its a small error in the wiring or some soldering. If the Thumb worked before, it's fine, so don't mess with it. Also, just don't attach a wire to the L pad, and you're good to go for using the Schoon Toon CLR. The CLR on the ET doesn't need to be used, it can just sit there.

I'd remove the ET from the equation, and get the Blend switch to work properly first.
