Title: Jumpering Questin
Post by: Gilmourisgod on October 02, 2013, 11:43:02 PM
Some of the builds have options where components are deleted for mods or different power voltages, etc. When a component is to be deleted off the PCB, do the pads for deleted  components need to be jumpered? Seems they would have to be to complete a signal path, but build docs don't mention it. Is this just assumption only a total noob would pose?

It really depends on the situation. Sometimes you need to jumper a connection and sometimes you just need to leave the part out. The build docs usually state when a jumper is required.

You can tell by looking at the schematic in almost every case too. If the optional part is in the signal path and it'll break the path, you are probably going to need to jumper it. If the part goes to ground, you are almost always going to need to leave it open.

Is there a specific case you are wondering about?

For future reference: in any build doc I produce, omit means leave off completely. Only jumper a component if it is explicitly stated.
