Title: DIY'ers Rule Again
Post by: gtr2 on October 19, 2013, 06:52:33 PM
Dryer stopped working.  Wife said we should probably get a new one, I said I can fix it.  "Really" she says, "yup" I say (money saved is money spent on music gear, I think to myself)  Fixing my dryer cost me a $30 part.  Having an appliance repairman look at it would have cost more than the appliance is worth!

Awesome.  Those stories are always a victory to me.

Our drier at home has this awesome red push button on it to replace their really crappy stock switch.  I'm pretty sure I increased it's value with customization.

That's always a good feeling. And you managed to impress a lady at the same time, I'd say you won for today.

Yeah, it kicks in the nitrous.  Now, I just need to add ground effects.

Sadly not, but I do think it'll sound better if I get one of these:

Really? Monster does sell cable for household appliances ? Do they also offer those High-end plastic covers to keep this nasty electromagnetic fields in the socket and prevent it from polluting your house when no plug is inserted? only USD 50 for the set of three?

Comments about Monster PowerDryer AC Power Cord for Electric Dryers:
Wow,fantastic product. Dryer runs cooler, sounds better, with deep lows and crystaline highs. Dryer seems to have much increased headroom to deal with demanding loads. Clothes dry faster, and the sunshine smell is an unexpected bonus.

Expensive, but worth it!

And harsh chemicals have always been a problem around my dryer.

I too recently did the same thing, fixed dryer motor, roof, pool filter, all for pedal money so far I got some $$ for matching jfets, next step: enclosures, possible 12 string or maybe tele.  Wish me luck. ;D

That rocks!  Pedal building has boosted my DIY confidence as well.  I've been on a roll: used my DMM to determine a bad heating coil in my dryer and fixed, replaced thermocouple in the furnace (tonight in fact, heater now functioning), replaced the power steering switch on my wife's car, replaced the O2 sensor.  All within the past  month and a half!  I've never been a fixit man.  Never had the desire till now.

My dishwasher was seemingly ready for a dirt nap earlier this year.  Went to Home Depot to look at a replacement and the guy there told me that I could probably fix what I had and sure enough he was right.  Got a new detergent dispenser panel thing for about $30, ran a few cycles with Lemishine (that crap is the bomb!) to clean out all the hard water build up and clean out all the sprayers and the dang thing works like brand new now.  I was out maybe $50 for the whole thing.
