Title: Hipster - BIAS trimpot
Post by: mcalaff on November 27, 2013, 10:27:45 PM
Hi,

recently I made a Hipster Fuzz Face.

I have signal only adjusting the bias trimpot at top left. Can I turn it a little to right, but only a "micro step" before losing signal. So I must have a 95% of trimpot wasted.

The maximum voltage in my case is 4.1V and the minimum 3.9V.

This is normal? I do not know if I could get better sound

I checked the values of resistors and caps. and all is ok.

I use BC108B transistors.

Thanks!

Have you tried other transistors? I found that circuit REALLY varied with different transistors in it.

Now I make a test with 2n3904 and 2n5088.

With 2n3904 can I adjust well the bias but it sounds with low volume.

With 2n5088 can I adjust well the bias, the volume is good but the sound is not impressive for me.

I will do more tests.

Check that your transistor isn't backwards.
