Title: Easy Big Muff question
Post by: icecycle66 on December 12, 2013, 02:09:49 AM
A friend of mine tried to rebox his Big Muff.
It stopped working.

He gave it to me to check out.  The first thing that came to my eye is that there are only three wires coming from the board.
In, Out, and what appears to be ground.

Where does the power wire go?  There's that spot near the top that is a good candidate, but there are a few spots in the middle that it might go.

Help a brother help a brother out.

Also a top shot.

On quick glance, it looks like either of the two pads I circled are where the V+ would go. I'm pretty sure that is right.

Is there also a wire going from the dc input to the audio input? Hard to tell.

One mod that could be done is to swap out the 1uf electrolytic input and output capacitors for .1uf film. This really helps to clean up the definition. Big Muffs are known for getting muddy and lost in the mix with the rest of the band.
