Title: Modded TS-9 issue(s)
Post by: pryde on December 26, 2013, 02:20:28 AM
I have a local guitar player who brought me an Ibanez TS-9 that he hacked up with a Monte Alums mod kit (new IC, clipping diode switch, presence switch, and a few cap/resistor swaps).

At first there was no signal and I reflowed most of his bad solder joints and now I get passing signal and functioning controls/switches BUT there is horrible oscillation with volume or gain turned up past 12? Also, the bypass switch does not work. It is always "on".

It appears he installed all the correct parts and locations per the instructions he got.

Honestly its an absolute bird nest nightmare in there and don't/wont spend to much time trying to troubleshoot but thought if anyone has any thoughts on the extreme oscillation and inability to bypass the effect it might make me more compelled to go further into it?

Thanks
