Title: Just realized something about my delay
Post by: Cortexturizer on January 14, 2014, 05:41:28 PM
Opened a delay after 5 or 6 years of using. I paid a horrendous price to a local builder for an analog delay that supposedly had MN3205s only to just realize now that there's a pair of Cool Audio V3205Ds in there. What a scumbag.
Yes, I had no idea about pedals at the time, but I was always tech savvy, and I do remember bright as day that his main USP was "Dude, this is a piece of history here, there's no more MN3205 chips in production, this is awesome, it's just like Boss DM-2 just with more delay time available!"
It's a GGG analog delay project. It sounds okay but I always thought it wasn't quite what I was after. It does go to 500ish ms which is very nice, but I had some distortion with it my whole life. I learned to live with it and based my playing on it actually.
Still, I cannot believe what a douche bag. I paid a horrendous price back then thinking I was buying a custom thing that excels in quality and features.

That really blows. Sorry to hear that. I have never found a good MN3205. MN3005, yes, but no luck at all with the 3205.

I am really pissed.
There's a local forum in Serbia where he is a global moderator, that's how I got into his work. He made a bunch of pedals to a lot of us in the past and everybody has been pissed since, an incredible talker, really can make an atmosphere of epicness over a pedal that unfortunately lots of us were attracted to. Literally more than 15 people that I know slowly realized how low quality his pedals were and most of them lost big money on reselling. I thought somehow I got the better deal but apparently I was his magnum opus scam.
