Title: Codpuss & Custom Expandra
Post by: Guitarmageddon on January 22, 2014, 04:20:50 AM
Codpuss.   :P
One of the 2009 Aquapuss boards, I've had a couple of these for years, but never built it.
Discovered one chip that worked in my pile of about 30 dud mn3005s. Turned out to be a re-branded 3008, so I built the double chip adaptor board from the instructions at Smallbear and paired it with a 3008 I had.

...then lucked across a couple of real MN3005 recently.  ...so I see a dirtbag in my future.   :)

The Coddess likes these, and so do I:

...but I kinda like the chrome chicks too.  :?

It's the first anniversary of the Codtone Expandra board, I got to build this one incorporating  pretty much all my favourite mods. (still available HERE (http://www.codtone.com.au/gallery/Boards)...shameless plug.)

It looks stock, but it's got a three way gain toggle (no forbidden mode, but a bit more gain in distortion mode), toggle for stock or "broad" voicing, (the latter retains a bit more presence and bass) and asymmetrical clipping with a fet.

The etching is killer.  I am partial to the chrome chicken heads myself.  Great builds!
