Title: why wire twists?
Post by: danwelsh on February 02, 2014, 04:09:35 AM
why do some guys twist wires(9v, gnd)....does it help with noise or just for looks and which should be twisted if so?

The only time twists really matter is in amplifier AC lines (tube filament wire, etc.) to maximize capacitance and reduce voltage hum from AC current.

Not an issue in pedals but it does look neat and adds some rigidity to the wires.

The ONLY way to achieve the true card table tones are from twisted wires.. but other than that.. its just aesthetics from what I have read for pedal building.

Well there's a thousand words for you...  ;D

I mostly twist pot leads on my vero builds. Keeps the wiring somewhat neat which is always an issue with vero.
