Title: Big score at a local electronics store.
Post by: haveyouseenhim on February 08, 2014, 12:34:26 AM
I am the only person that is allowed to browse this little out of business electronics store. So I get to cherry pick from TONS of new old stock stuff.

Today I got a crazy deal on some bulk transistors and this-and-that.

Starting off with 1000 1n4005, NTE germs, GE brand 2n170, 2n2160, GE-X10, about 1500 ECG123a transistors, about 1000 ECG128 transistors, a box of mallory axial caps(LOTS more where that came from) and lil bits and pieces.

Yes ;). I'm willing to bet there is enough gold on the ecg123s to make my money back a few times. Of course I wouldn't do that.

Can anyone think of a good circuit to try the ecg128s in?  I'm going to make a muff to try them out. I'm wondering if there are any others I should try.

I just breadboarded this lil Si fuzz face with the ECG128 and it sounds pretty darn good. I changed the 22uf cap on the lugs of the fuzz pot to 100uf and it brightened it up a bit to my liking.   * Messed with the bias of Q2 and it changed it to how I like.

I'll have a sale thread soon for those who want to try em.

When you get locked into a serious transistor collection, the tendency is to take it as far as you can.  ;)

Huge score!    I just got 13 unopened boxes of NOS Mallory film caps for $8.

The 'regular ohm' lady said she would do  $1.50 a box........  I love her math skills.  :o

The nice thing is that they all measure well within spec.
