MXR La Machine...
So, what is this pedal based on? I'd love to build something that sounds like it. Its a fuzz, but sounds like it has a lot more to it.

Couldn't tell you for sure what it's based on.
However, Madbean offers the Wolfshirt PCB (Foxx Tone Machine clone).
That has all the same controls and features as the MXR.
More importantly it also sounds epic.
I highly recommend building one!
