Post by: J. Ignacio on February 27, 2014, 07:45:07 PM
Hi guys, i have done 4 o 5 Lavache from Madbean. It's a great pedal with a sweet sound but i want to modificate a little.
I want to add a tone control and not use boost option. This last opcion is easy but the tone control not. Which value can i use for pot?where i can conect in pedal?

Thanks and sorry for me English.

What kind of tone control do you want to add?

I don't understand your question very well. I want a tone pot to control bass and trebles like all the tone pots in overdrives...

He's asking because there are passive tone stacks which can only take away and active tone controls not to mention treble filter, BM tone stack, baxandall. Adding a passive tone control would possibly necessitate adding a gain makeup stage because the overall level would be lower too.

Ok. Thanks, so it's difficult to make a tone control without modificate the original schematic...

There are some things that are easy to add in, like a bass cut toggle on the input cap, and others that require significantly more alteration. Part of what makes the LaVache sound the way it does is the simplicity of the circuit, but it also means that there isn't a whole lot you can do to it without significantly altering the amount of gain, volume, or overdrive characteristics.
