Title: Marshall footswitch repairing help
Post by: Gledison on March 20, 2014, 07:16:05 PM
Hey folks,
a friend of mine gave me his footswitch and the only info i have is that is not working :P
i've checked for continuity and i have the following results (unfortunatly i dont have the amp to test)
Clean/overdrive : OFF = Continuity between Sleeve and Ring
Clean/overdrive: ON and OD2 = Continuity between Tip and Ring
Clean/overdrive: ON and OD1 =Continuity between T R S in all combinations.
other info: Both LEDs are working!
i dont have the schematics and im tried to figure it out myself (as an exercise of learning) and the only thing i can think that is weird is when the Overdrive 1 is on, that the tip ring and sleeve are shorted.
any help in the right direction?
thanks in advance

I believe I have the same foot switch that's been out of service for years. Perhaps I'll crack it open and see if I can't figure something out. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

It could be the TRS plug on his amp that is not working properly also. I had this happen once with a Fender Chorus amp. The TRS plug had a broken joint and nothing worked properly with the footswitch.
