Just got this together. What a blast! Not too much in the clean tone department, but if you want growl, it's awesome. Great pcb (ronsound.com) makes it a pretty easy build if you want to get into amps. I'll be working on a box for it soon. (http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/1024x768q90/23/pu1t.jpg)

Looks great! Hope to build up my board for this soon. Where did you get your transformers?
PT is from AES and the OT is from Musical Power Supplies (OT5PP+). I don't have the Hammond 125 to compare it to, but I really like MPS OT. The plus version has even more iron, and the bass is very strong with it. Not much price difference from the 125.
Btw, the board mount switches are hard to find, but Mouser has one of them in stock, and the other due in soon. I'd grab them while you can.
Nice build!
I get great cleans out of mine, with the boost turned off of course.

Thanks for the help!
That's a great build! Very well done.
Nice! Looks great :)
Are you going to house in a headshell or leave it like that?
I'm thinking of building a second one of these but on Turret this time. ;D
I plan on building some kind of head cab for it. Haven't worked out the details yet. I went back and forth over building it on turret or pcb, and opted for the pcb due to reports of noise issues on some hand wired builds. I'm sure a well thought out layout would work fine though. Let me know if you do another. I'd love to see what you come up with.
Here's the goto eyelet/turret board layout. http://www.diyguitarist.com/PDF_Files/FireflyChassis.pdf
I also have somewhere, the ExpressPCB file for the John Calhoun pcb layout (REV.4) that it looks like you used, if anyone wants to try to roll their own double sided pcb.

I had built mine in a 1590DD Tall

Had to flip the pcb over, have wires going from pcb to tube sockets, lots of «not so well thinkered» wiring in it and.... it's not that noisy at all, pretty much the same thing that i've heard in most youtube clips.
The one i'm planning on turret, i will have the OT and PT on each end of the enclosure though, to make sure their field don't cross each other. Since i've built that one, i've learned a good amount of stuff about amp building, pretty confident about the turret layout.
