Title: Screwdriver—Sound but no fuzz—FIXED
Post by: Droogie on March 30, 2014, 09:14:27 PM
Built an SMD (through-hole trannies). Got sound and all controls "work" bu no fuzz just clean boost. 4001 for D1. I may have switched 9v and ground first time I tested  :-[

Here's what I get for voltages:
Q1: BS170
S 2.3
G 4.1
D 7.5

Q2: 2n5088
C 1.8
B .62
E 0

Q3: OC140
C 3.4
B  .62
E .51

I read in another help thread that Q2 C and Q3 B should be the same...

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Just looked up an internet schematic and it seems they should be the same the collector of Q2 goes directly to the base of Q3

So the collector of Q2 should be more like .62 volts. That's a start. Anyone have good voltages for all the Qs?

I swapped out the 100u electros and bingo! Guess they didn't like being fried. I'll be sure to bake next time...
