Sorry for such a silly qwestion, but...what´s the wire gauge that you use for the most usual fx projects. Is there one that´s the most suitable?
Talking about simple projects (with no shielded wire or other singularities)
Thanks, best regards.
I think all my wire is 24 gauge, and I like it that way. I think some others use 22, but I wouldn't go smaller than 24.

Smallbear #24 Prebond - Really easy to work with and nice quality. I won't use anything else now.

Seconded. This is my favorite wire.
Thanks buddies.
I read somewhere "increasing gauge numbers denote decreasing wire diameters" So 22 gauge is wider than 24 gauge...(and maybe could be better?)
Am I right?
Thanks again.
Yes on the number thing - smaller number means larger wire. Wider does not necessarily equal better.

Thirded. I wish they hadn't gone to a thicker jacket, but it's still my preferred wire.
Chromesphere's wire is also pretty decent -- it has more of a flexible feel to it, like fine sewing thread, whereas SB's #24 feels more solidcore.

Chromesphere's wire is fantastic, I've got bunches. Bought it about 3 times, kept forgetting I had it. Barry's hook up wire is killer also. It's more like pre bonded than solid core. It was especially helpful on my massive build.
I use 22g and love it. 24g I tend to tear up.
Prebond is the shit, but I can't always get it, and so I stay away from it.
Home Depot sells some 22/4 wire by the foot. It's jacketed, shielded, and has a bare ground wire.
$0.33/ft Red Green White Black.
Pure copper.
Love it.
I love the wire from guitarPCB.

Hey, good to hear feedback about the wire guys! I know what I like, but wire is so personal...its nice to see its working out for others as well! Here's a link for anyone that hasn't seen it:

I'd also recommend salvaging wire. I used to get loads of wire this way. Unfortunately though its limited quantity and color. So you find perfect AWG wire with the right jacket rigidity and 2-4 colors but when your out you have to start looking again...bit of a pita. Still worth while looking around your house you might find a stash of good stuff :D

I like the prebond 24g but I bought a bunch of 22g from Tayda (cheap!) that I'm working my way through. It's fine but it's a tight fit in some holes (hush, Jimi!) and I generally have to tin it before I solder it up. When I'm out, I'll probably stick to the prebond stuff.
+1 For Smallerbear #24
Haven't tried Pauls yet, maybe next though?

QuoteI love the wire from guitarPCB
This is all I have been using lately.
I used the GPCB wire for some time and it's good stuff but lately I've been all over the T-Diddy wire. I've stocked up the past few group buys and it's really great stuff. I still use the GPCB for any off-board pots since it's thinner and more malleable, it will let me squish it in a bit more when I'm packing things in place. But for the wires to the switch, jacks and power, its all T-Diddy.
T-diddy? Whaaa?
