Title: Ernie Ball VP Jr. mods?
Post by: selfdestroyer on May 02, 2014, 07:40:15 PM
I have seen a few companies like JHS and Mercyseat Effects that do a split buffer mod for a volume pedal and wondered if 2 of the klon buffers would work or if anyone has some experience implementing something in a VP. Looking for ideas.

I would say that it should be a fairly simple mod. I'm thinking about doing a drop in PCB for a VPJr that gives a buffered signal out for the tuner and the main out, with some board mounted pots and such.

That would make it easy, and you would have my money.

I knew I read about it somewhere.. I totally forgot about this build doc. I am trying to wrap my head around it since I have never added just a buffer to a pedal before. Thanks Bufferz

Irmcdermott(sp?) has a board for this in the OSH shared, uses the Klon buffer and adds some LED lighting goodness. Great sound, and the LED's are just fun, also helpful on a dark stage. Would have LOVED to have had this on a stereo VP, converted it to Mono and had the glow change intensity via the pedal position.

Jacob if you want I have a sacrificial VPJR PCB you can have. I owe you for the PIF.

PM me and it's yours

I would also love to mod my vp jr. It's a 250k version, is that worse than the 25k version for a buffer like this one?

That's the one! If you don't have a 1x1 3m double adhesive pad I suggest some.
