Isn't everyone looking for excuse to buy more amplifiers? This would be one of the best reasons I can think of.

this is a good candidate for cloning. the originals are super expensive and rare. don't know how difficult it would be to pull off, but I'd definitely like to build one.

These ran off 120VAC correct? If we could get a project that runs 9v/12v/18v that would be awesome!
And to buy more amps ;D

I don't think so. I can't remember ever seeing one with a cord hardwired. Even if it did there would be a transformer inside to convert to DC which could be omitted for external power. I have a old memory man with that configuration.
