Title: Function FX Duovibe
Post by: Morgan on June 04, 2014, 04:55:41 PM
I scored this sweet Basic Audio enclosure from a fellow forumite a while back (michaelballard maybe?) and have been saving it for a special build. I could think of no other circuit more worthy than the Duovibe designed by my good buddy, the Funky Jesus!  :D (plus, I am a total, filthy vibrato whore... :o)

Awesome circuit, LOVE the vibrato mode. 1590B enclosure with top mounted jacks; It's going right on the pedal board. I'd really like to see a 4-stage version of this!

Also - thanks a bunch to Rej for sending me the LDRs. They work great!  8)

A note on the cloth wiring - I don't use that stuff to be fancy. When I started monkeying with electronics, it was refurbishing vintage amps. The I started building amps, then finally I started building pedals. I got used to the cloth wiring in old amps and just keep using it because I like not stripping wires and it has never let me down.

Had to grind down the lip on the inside of the enclosure lid because of the top mounted 1/4" jacks - 5 min on the grinder and no problems.

wow, great build. The enclosure looks awesome, the colours fit very nicely together.
What kind of funky wires are those?

Very nicely done with the wiring and artwork. Super clean looking. What pots did you end up using on your build? I still have a non working one on my bench that I need to spend some more time with.

That's really nice Morgan, glad the LDR worked out.

Where do you get those «bezel» mounted DC Jack?

The stock ones listed in the schematic. Am I supposed to play with the values? Wouldn't mind a touch more depth.

That is one of these: http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=163-1060-EXvirtualkey11180000virtualkey163-1060-EX (http://www.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=163-1060-EXvirtualkey11180000virtualkey163-1060-EX)

I actually think that I like the smaller ones from BLMS a bit better though.

LOL! I couldn't resist roughing them up a bit. They were just too shiny! You should see the copper ones - they REALLY look like Rej got to 'em.

Thanks for the link, i was actually putting another Mouser order together, will give them a try.

Have you purchased some of the Lumberg style from Lawrence lately? I had bought some when he first had them in stock, the fit was not good enough so i commit stashing up with that offering.

Yes, I got some in from Lawrence 2 weeks ago. The fit is good as far as the nut and thread. The jack grip is pretty tight, but so are the kobiconn ones.

Was there a specific issue you had?

The center tip had the tendency to have a diameter a tad more than 2.1mm and would severly gripe into the power patch cable, at a point where it would fit in and when removing the power cable the center pin would follow. GuitarBen also had that issue.

Ah - I'd say these are similar to that. I haven't had one come loose, but they are pretty tight.

This looks awesome! Cloth-covered wire is always classy, whether you intended it to be or not.
