Title: Is this the right cap?
Post by: HailToTheBlues on June 09, 2014, 11:18:39 PM
Hi guys,
The rest of my parts for a Retrograde project have arrived today, but the 220uf electrolytic capacitor i ordered seems way to bigger than i expected, did i order the wrong one, or is this the normal size for this type of cap?
Note: the resistor is just there for scale.

Looks right. 220uF will be larger than most others. Next time you may want to get a 16v instead of the 25v (as long as your circuit is at 9v).

Take your calipers and measure... my 220us are
16/25V 6x11
35V 8x12
50V 10x13

Thanks for the replies, didn't they would be so big, to fit in the enclosure, i may need to tilt it a litle, but i'll see about that when i start the build.
