Title: 8mm LED doesn't really light up
Post by: Azagaroth on June 12, 2014, 05:20:03 PM
Hi People,
short question.
I wanted to include a 8mm green LED in one of my builds.

I put it in with a 2,2k ohm resistor but there is just a really weak light. Same with a 1k resistor.
Is that normal and should I try a even smaller value resistor or did I screwed up with the off board wiring?

cheers

You may want to hold resistor and LED directly to the 9V battery contacts to find out if ther is a general problem with the LeD or the wiring.

The large leds i have, different colours, are all very low light output. Tested the ones i have, lowest resistance in my tester is 510r and through that and with an 18v supply they are probably useable but still not very bright.

Maybe they have a built in resistor
