Title: 2 mini problems with Weener Wah II
Post by: panchokunstmann on June 19, 2014, 02:38:21 AM
I built the wah as it is in the layout, with the exception of:

C7 (3.3 uf + 1uf ) and C2 (15n to 10n). I have not found 15n

The two problems are:

Problem 1:
in the first third of the pedal produces little "wah". in these third, I move my foot and does not modulate acute.  as if I did not move my foot  :o :o :o

when the Wah pedal in the first third of the trail is very "bass" and not really feel that change the sound. after that third, the pedal modulates and does everything well.

*the pedal has a 100k-ICAR potentiometer.
** I regulate it ( potentiometer) to work on the most acute part.

Does the problem is by the kind of potentiometer?

***this is the first third, I mean this:

Problem 2:

when the wah is on the last third of most acutely, like this:

I have a noise (more than normal on Cry baby, or any similar pedal) ( is ONLY when the pedal is in this position )

what can I do to reduce it?

thanks

If I understand correctly, you want more sweep along the travel of the treadle?

Assuming you set the pot to engage with the travel already.

As for noise, you have some long lengths of bare wires that probably aren't helping.  Could be a cold joint on a ground somewhere, or a short.   What inductor is that?

I just built one, and I actually have the opposite issue, I don't have enough travel on the treadle to take advantage of all the sweep.

Thanks for answering!

yes, I meant just that: more sweeping.

how I can achieve more? will be by the potentiometer?

About the noise, I think you're right it can be a major factor. I have it like that (with bare wires) because I'm testing it, but I'll upgrade that point.

The inductor is a yellow Fasel.

what  potentiometer did you use?  What inductor did you use?

Pot and coil via joe gagen.  Great stuff. I think there's a few things that control sweep range, but likely IMO is matching the cap to the coil. Try a few values from about 1 if to 10.

I did not know that brand of pots and inductors, every day you learn something new :)

What do you mean with IMO? which is the capacitor that you are talking about? C4?

thank you very much

Joe is a member here and posts things for sale.  If it's wah, joe knows.

C2 is the one I would play with. I would also verify the value and play with r9.

This article helped me a lot

Maybe try different transistors with lower hfe

Do you adjust the trimmer?

Please excuse me for not responding on time,

the truth is that I was very sick a few days, now I'm recovered and I can do everything on the wah.

I'll see one by one their advice and answer as quickly as possible.

thank you very much everyone
