Title: Crazy experience Etching an enclosure !!
Post by: sdlogan9 on June 19, 2014, 09:21:45 PM
Yesterday I etched a few PCB's

Today I decided to etch an enclosure for a customer.   And my etching solution seemed to be acting a bit different than I was use to.  Low and behold it seems to have transferred the copper from yesterday to the aluminum enclosure today..

After I cleaned it a little it came out this gray tarnished color..  I dont know if I try and clean it real well if it will all come off.  It did not etch into the aluminum at all,,  it is now raised where it is black and etched where it is chrome looking..  it basically made a reverse etch.

Have any of you seen this before?

Mine do that if I use older/heavily used ferric chloride. It usually cleans up fine.
