Title: Shared OshPark projects user pages
Post by: icecycle66 on June 20, 2014, 02:46:39 PM
I've surley missed some. I just scrolled through 400 pages of projects eye filtering everything.  Add what I missed.
Also, I intentionally left out a bunch of 3PDT switch boards and J201 SMD conversion boards.

Here's a list of shared Oshpark project effects.

Got some stuff on there already (JFet Buffer/Splitter etc.).

Should have some more stuff to add in the near future.

But why do the uploaders hardly ever attach a BOM? Is there a secret to it?
I'd be interested in a few projects but don't know where to get the BOMs. Duh.
Still good stuff though.

Thanks for this!

Really awesome and helpful

This is great! The project library has grown since the last compilation thread I saw. Thanks.

Already have a ton I want to order!

Since mine is listed in the first post: I would caution against ordering that Tap Tempo Tremolo board unless you're in a big hurry. It's NOT the redesign, which will be closer to the Cosmo Tremolo I built a while back.

Ops, can we merge this thread with the shared projects directory, since it's become a bit more comprehensive? http://www.madbeanpedals.com/forum/index.php?topic=10869.0

p.s. Angelo, thanks for taking the time to compile that list.

Does anyone have a project for an MN300x doubler that will fit the old aquaboy? The ones above wouldn't sit above the main board if using headers to hold the doubler board in place.

Thanks, icecycle66, for collating!

Maybe we could further organize this information with the MBP website re-design. It would be great to have users be able to submit their OSH stuff to a database here that could be indexed and searched by users.

OSHpark needs to institute a "profit sharing" program for boards ordered from the shared projects. It would probably be a pain to implement, but it would also likely generate a lot more shared projects and orders.

It'd generate more effort on my part. The only BOM's I have on my osh share is for the complicated Lovetone stuff, I think.

Well yes, you'd have to make at least the schematic available. But you can include a link in the notes section of each project, and DropBox is free.

If you were selling the boards yourself, you'd do the same amount work.

Would it be possible to include a note about what PCBs are actually available at all these links? It's great to have them all in one place, but without any mention of what circuits are where, you're just flying blind.

What is the best way to locate build documents?  Some of these projects have a build doc, but most do not, AFAIK.

^ This.  I've often thought this myself. An idea like this would work for everyone, oshpark, the designer and the community at large.  Maybe its on their to do list.

Edit: been meaning to add a new board for a while, this isn't an effect just another 'utility' board, and is a painfully simple idea.  Use the board to change spacing on project pcb's from 9mm to 16mm and obviously, the other way around as well.

It's been percolating at the back of my mind, and I think that if OSH did, it would encourage excellence on the part of people uploading shared projects.

Why?

Think about it. You're doing a project, and think, other people might be interested? So do you do half-pai docs, or thorough documentation that would entice and help potential customers? Because, if people have a choice, they aren't going to pick a crappy board with half-ass docs that is hard to understand (which is why Brian has done so well -- his docs are excellent, as are his boards, and the culture he has fostered here.)

Mind you, this is assuming the Shared page on osh gets a lot better than the last time I looked.

I agree that a cafepress-styled markup system would be a net gain, but it seems incompatible with OSH Park's ideals. 123D Circuits has a system like that, but their fab prices are much, much higher than OSH Park.

I wish there were a simple "verified" tag for OSH Park projects. And a simple way to contact project owners.

I've updated my shared projects with schematics and vital info. I suspect simply PMing each other is the best way to vet the ready-to-build-ness of shared projects. I know I have a few caveats and quirks in my stuff that may or may not be important to others considering whether to spring for three boards.

I think I read somewhere that Laen was planning on overhauling the shared section of OSH Park. It would be great if users could rate the shared projects and maybe forums linked to each shared project to allow users to discuss them.

Andrew.

Noob here.  On Deveraun's mkii tonebender, do the pots go fuzz, bias, and volume from left to right?

Thanks,
Pat

That's right. Fuzz is usually called Attack, for what it's worth. I did the layout assuming I would use vertical board mounted pots, with the PCB perpendicular to the floor. I think right angle pots would work too, but I haven't tried it.

I have a couple boards sitting around here. PM me your address and I'll send you one.
