Title: Audiophile nuttiness
Post by: miter53 on June 26, 2014, 04:25:48 AM
Saw this over at TGP and thought I would share it here. And you thought carbon comps were snake oil!

For real laughs, check out the explanation of the Clever Little Clock:

I do think the guy has a real talent for product names. I mean, how do you come up with FROG JUMP IN WATER SOUND TWEAK USING ORDINARY WATER or TELEPORTATION TWEAK LONG DISTANCE SYSTEM UPGRADE?

Excuse me, I need to go tape some rocks to my cables...

The last one makes as much sense to me as the Time Cube guy.

Thanks for this. I had no idea...

I think I've got at least 3 or 4 names for pedals out of this...

"The original glass bottles for Brilliant Pebbles have been replaced by clear zip lock bags, which have a more linear response than glass"

btw guys, if you have ordered from me before you would know I pack everything in zip lock bags.  Just to assure you my zip locks also have a linear response as well.

Don't they know that the plastic they have the rocks in will mess up their transendence or what not?

I really do believe though that the guys selling this are damn rich. You can't make more money than with stupidity of people.

I think the site is actually a spoof on some of the (very real) audiophile nuttiness that predated it.  It has a very Andy Kaufmanesque feel to it.

It does seem to be an ongoing experiment, however.  If you read the guy on forums, he doesn't seem to break character, but it does seem like many around him get the joke.  Of course, there are those who don't get it and ardently defend his products.  It would be a bit funnier to me if he wasn't actually selling the products and taking advantage of the people that he is making fun of, but oh well....

Yeah, this is either true insanity that no one will take seriously or a spoof. It's just as funny either way.

I agree; its most likely a p*ss take.

I love that the image of the pebbles attached to cables shows a tiled floor.

Probably one of the most reflective surfaces you could choose for an 'audiophile' listening environment.

I would love to see an interview with the guy who is selling these  ;D

Are you saying I shouldn't have ordered these products?  Crap!  My audio system will continue to have resonance control, RFI/EMI absorption, and isolation problems.  Now what can I do?

I am sure that they will help in some fashion.  I'd suggest taping the rocks to the section of the speaker cables that are sitting directly on the tennis balls.

You need that $1000 iec cable to ensure the flow of electrons from the wall outlet are linear.

What can we say... A fool and his money are soon parted.

I was going with the parody until I clicked on a buy button and it actually took me to PayPal. Still, it's got to be a joke, right? Most of the things look like he saw them on the side of the road and then he made up a marketing story for them.

I did the same thing.

I still think it's a joke, but he doesn't seem to have an issue with taking money from the people he's making fun of.  It doesn't strike me as very ethical, but it doesn't preclude it from being a joke, either.

Who knows if he'd actually accept the payment... the joke doesn't work if it so clearly seems like a joke. The paypal has to work for the joke to work! Otherwise it's too easily dismissed.

WTF would happen if you taped some of those magic pebbles to a genuine Klon?  :o

Theoretical discussion only, please don't actually try this for the love of God.

Looking more closely at the cryogenically treated Baby Promethean Mini Isolators, it appears they also have the ability to reverse the force of gravity, but it's only a localized effect. If they are the next room, not so much...

Y'all are making me miss TN. I spent a year at Belmont in Nashville back in the day. I would love to go back for a visit.

I think they've gone well past the verge and full on into crazy, but that system is a piece of art.
