If you could take the DNA of any two guitar players to create a new one who would they be? ;)
Trey Anastasio and Phil Keaggy.
Jacob
Guthrie Govan and Django Reinhardt?
Good question!
Eric Johnson and The Edge! :)
Mike Campbell and Jason Falkner
Bruce Cockburn and Jagori Tanna.
Jacob
Jimmy Page +Jack White or Josh Homme + Joe Bonamassa
Gerry "Spooky Ghost" Leonard and Warren Haynes!
Stevie Ray Vaughan (ecstasy) and Rev. Billy G. (coolness) = the ultimate Texan!
85% 1978 Zappa and 15% 1988 Zappa
Lincoln Brewster & The Edge
Bruce Springsteen and Keith Richards.
There's too many but a sweet combo would be Paul Kossoff and Robin Trower
Alex Lifeson and ME! He is a little better than I am, but it would be perfect for me. ;D

I knew I liked you, Brian! There's an old boot from NJ, Oct. '78 that makes me mess my pants every time I hear it. Was that an over-share?
David Gilmour and Tony Iommi. It'd be a prog-metal monster of unstoppable awesomeness.

33% Steve Vai
33% Michael Angelo Batio
that will be a 99% comletely insane guitar player with 6 arms and a 9-neck-guitar, which can be played simultaneously while performing a handstand. And there will be 12 million single notes played on every average cd with 45min playin time....
buah-ha-ha-ha-ha-....... (mad scientist laughter) ;D

Jacob
Make it Trey from before the millennium and that be a beast!
I'll go with Jimi Hendrix and Thurston Moore. That spawn could probably write an entire instrumental album for electric guitar that never used a single note. Long live the noise!
The man behind Maggot Brain
Derek "F*cking" Trucks (this clip is NUTS!!)
Stuart Copeland and Neil Pert.
Jacob
Steve Morse and someone, I dunno who.
Steve Lukather and Prince would make me crap my pants...

Yeah. The only two albums I really listen to for Phish is "Story of the Ghost" and "Farmhouse."
Here's some vides of all involved.
Jacob
Well, since we are posting videos... I don't know who to pair him with, because he's pretty perfect on his own.... Duke Levine. I want his tone.
This is the tone that haunts my dreams.

Yeah man. Keith tends to have some pretty killer tones. Great player too. And while his tone is more twangy, Brad Paisley can also shred some riffs with the rest of 'em. Don't count out the country boys!
i do dig me some keith urban riffs. he puts on a good show. I only wish he would rock a little more. he has such great potential.

Hell yeah! do you have his solo album? I have the originl vinyl and the Rhino CD.
I thought Trucks and Hazel were the most interesting pairing of my favorites. But it was hard for me to leave my favorite off, (but he wouldn't get any better cloned with another guitarist)
John Scofield
Adrian Belew and James Usher (Edison Glass). Both are brilliant and creative.

Couldn't agree more with Edison Glass. "time is fiction" is one of my all time favorite records.
I'd say Doug Martsch and Neil Young but I'm afraid that might be inbreeding...
Too hard to choose...so it's DM + (Jimi Hendrix/Nels Cline/Lee Ranaldo/J Mascis/Derek Trucks/Duane Allman/Jack Pearson/George Harrison)
And maybe Robert Randolph :o
Wait for Doug's solo at 2:28:
Mike Campbell, Keith Richards, and if I can break the rules and add a third Brad Paisley.

I concur. Eddie "Smeero" Hazel is my all-time fave (thus my moniker).
and for those that don't know... this shoudl be required listening for effects lovers... better yet for music lovers
Just 'cause I want to try embedding a youtube video... ;)
Also, quick cameo by Belew.

Speaking of Belew, ran across this Talking Heads concert over the weekend... Belew GOES OFF, my favorite are these two songs: (embedding blocked)

Here's a 5 (or so) part video from the early '80s where Belew geeks hardcore on his effects. Very cool. Does his use of the violin/volume swell effect predate eric johnson?
part 1
Mark Knopfler and Clapton, or Derek Trucks and Jeff Beck :o
actually Jeff Beck and Tom Morello would be a much better fit than Derek Trucks.
Warren Haynes and Jerry Cantrell. Between the SLO and the Bogner, it's heavy awesomeness. :D
OR
David Gilmour and Marty Friedman. Can you say "Phrygian Side of the Moon"? ;D
Buck Owens and Doobie Dickfat
