Title: Recommend a DIY Guitar Kit company?
Post by: PhiloB on July 24, 2014, 02:51:35 AM
I want to look into building a Les Paul Jr.  I've found several companies.  A few with mediocre reviews.
Any recommendations and/or real world experiences?

Thanks,
Phillip

Byoguitar is where I got the finish for both of mine.  I didn't buy kits although they look pretty sharp, I bought a body on eBay, got a body and neck from GC. Sourced other parts on eBay.

Jimmy, I'd love too.  Don't have have the tools or the skill set:) maybe when my kids are out of the house.
I watched a kid shape the back of a neck with hand tools (time lapse photography) on YouTube.... Talk about skill.
I know with pedal building, I enjoy the process as much as the final product.  I imagine guitar building would be the same.

I'm Cool leaving that to the pros. I will just buy blank bodies and necks.

There's a company I'll be going to that's in Canada called Precision Guitars. Out of Vancouver. They'll do finishing too.
