Finally bought a Fender Jazz Bass for recording and was curious if a DI box pcb existed anywhere?
Just increasing caps will allow more low end frequency, sometimes you need to change a resistor or two, usually the in and out cap works for http://www.muzique.com/pcb.htm the multi purpose opamp pcb will work for a transformer less direct box, otherwise it's really cheaper to just buy one. Transformers alone ate bout 80,00 when I was looking. Otherwise, I use a tonebone bassbone.
Haven't built it yet, but I have the pcb for this: http://diy.thcustom.com/shop/balanced-line-driver-v1-0-pcb/
Looks like a great design.

Works Flawlessly! And it's just a line driver, no need to bother about caps and what not it will simply convert your instrument level signal to balanced. Neato!
Totally forgot about Thomas
Thanks for all the input guys!
This guy sounds great and can be built in under an hour: http://store.diyrecordingequipment.com/ferrite-passive-di/
I paired the line driver pcb with an NE-1 preamp on vero (and a compressor, and a fuzz, lol).... works great. That line driver is fantastic.
when I originally posted the thread, I was hoping something more along the lines of this would be out there for the DIYer:

...but these suggestions are great too.
Well, mine is close-ish I suppose. The NE-1 isn't as anywhere near as comprehensive as the Sansamp, but it still sounds great.

There's a Bass Driver thread on Freestompboxes, someone has an etch there.

There's also the Shadowsky vero layout at Mark's site.

can it be upside-down??, i mean if i want to set the console as input(balanced line) and get an unbalanced output??, i think those are named reamping box, can it be done without a transformer??
